PETER SOM F2010

I can't remember the last time I got so excited over a collection. There is so much newness is this collection; it is full of exquisite prints, fabrics and colours which indulge the senses. From the beautiful floral dresses and neon fur jackets, I was left salivating and desperately wishing I had more money. I must add I was so relieved that a Fall collection could be so colourful, it never makes sense to me why designers turn to dreary, drab colours during winter. What's the point I mean winters already depressing enough?! And in addition there was not one pair of skinny pants or any leather items for that matter. Maybe it is because Som hasn't done a collection for a year and so has had time to let his imagination run wild.  This is fashion design at it's best.

Little Abbey is Growing Up!

I was excited to see Abbey Lee on the front page of Australian Vogue, Dazed and Confused and I.D magazine! The edgy beauty has now become the favourite of Karl Lagerfeld himself after she was chosen to be the bride in Chanel's latest couture collection.

WHAT I"M LISTENING TO AND WHAT YOU SHOULD BE!

SIA

Sia Furler is an Australian pop singer who has worked with chilled out outfit Zero 7 who I also happen to love as well as written songs for the likes of Christina Aguilera and Sam Dixon. It easy to see really the woman is a genius the creativity and originality in her work are hard to beat. What makes her even cooler is her openess about her bisexuality. Songs to check out include: 'Breathe Me', 'Girl You Lost to Cocaine', 'Judge Me', 'Natales Song'. I am so glad I found Sia in a world where you have to dig to find quality music that is not just after commercial success.

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM

LCD Soundsystem is the work of producer James Murphy who is head of dance punk label DFA records. Murphy creates intelligent dance/punk music which challenges the boundaries and conventions of its supposed genre.  Murphys music takes me into a crazy world where disco and punk collide, where nothing in music is unreachable. It puzzles to me as to why Murphy is not more well known. Great tracks include: 'Daft Punk is Playing at My House', 'Get Innocuous', "North American Scum', 'Give it up' and many more.

PEACHES

Merrill Beth Nisker (Peaches) is a Canadian electronic musician who challenges conventions and creates music which is new, exciting and plants a big 'fuck you' on the idea that woman should be chaste, restrained and sexually inhibited. It is refreshing to see a woman who is so obviously comfortable with her sexuality and who can prove that woman can be even cooler  than men when it comes to rock and roll. Tracks to check out include: 'Fuck the pain away', 'Back it Up', 'Kick it'(A duo with the cool Iggy Pop) and 'Rock Show'.
